Where is the Bookworm I Used To Be?

oprah_book_middlesex.jpgOprah just announced her pick for the Summer. It's Middlesex by Jeffrey Euginedes. Her announcement made me think of my own summer read. I don't have any. As a matter of fact I'm still trying to finish a book I bought last year. It's not as profound as any of the books from Oprah's Book Club. It's under the chick lit genre called Faking It by Jennifer Crusie. I pride myself in being a bookworm. I have been an avid reader eversince I was a child. I could read a book from the beginning to end(200-500 pages) in a matter of 2-3 days. My choice in novels varies from contemporaries, fiction and non-fiction, and chick lits. I used to be so obssessed over Historical Romance books but has pretty much outgrown it and am now wondering how I've managed to withstand all those stories, hah.

me_book.jpgAfter Oprah's announcement, I realized I haven't been in the mood for reading books lately. I have been trying to finish my book since the beginning of winter of last year but to no avail. The last time I opened it was actually 2 months ago. My excuse? well having a new baby is a good start. I just don't have time anymore. After 2 kids, a husband, a house, and myself in between, reading took a backseat. With my problogging jobs, the reading I've been doing these days are the news/stories, product researches, googling, and proofreading. I feel bad about it. At nights, my husband and I find ourselves going to bed at about 10:30pm during the week. On the weekends we try to spend as much time as we can with each other once the kids are in bed. He is an avid reader himself but it's been a while since he picked up a book to read leisurely. The books we are picking up these days are for our 9 yr old and our 9 month old.

I have to tell you I miss the bookworm in me. I really must find her again. Hopefully I could devote an hour or 2 at least 3 times a week. Maybe I'll finally finish one from the stack on my end table and actually feel the joy again when I see books at the stores. Wish Me Luck.

So what are YOU going to read this summer?

Thanks for being a part of the Carnival of SAHMs! I'm like you, a stack of books waiting to be read and no time to read any of them. LOL Maybe when the kids are grown.
