On the mountain, we don’t have the luxury of a dishwasher – well, there’s me, of course.
Getting back to the basics of hand washing dishes is really quite enjoyable. Firstly, it’s nice to just wash the dishes, dry them and put them away. Done. No waiting for the dishwasher to get full. No having to smell that toxic dishwasher soap. No having to listen to the annoying hum and splash of water that seems to go on forever. No having to unload the dishwasher.
Washing dishes by hand seems to be way more efficient and I can use some great environmentally friendly dish soap. There’s also something relaxing about have your hands in warm water. Also, because everyone scatters when I say it’s time to wash dishes, I’m usually by myself to perform the deed.
This is actually not too bad…
When I need some alone time, I just fill up the sink with my non-toxic soap and announce, “Time to wash dishes!”. Minutes later I’m a mom with a good 20 minutes of peace and quiet…
Figuring it out as I go,
- Lesli
