Too Much TV During The Early Years Causes Adult Problems

TV_kids.jpgAnother study on the effect of kids watching too much TV was done in Chicago. This time the study states that more than 2 hours of TV a day will result in problems later in adulthood.

"Those who watched more than two hours, and particularly those who watched more than three hours, of television per day during childhood had above-average symptoms of attention problems in adolescence," Carl Landhuis of the University of Otago in Dunedin wrote in his report, published in the journal Pediatrics.

Young children who watched a lot of television were more likely to continue the habit as they got older, but even if they did not the damage was done, the report said.

"This suggests that the effects of childhood viewing on attention may be long lasting," Landhuis wrote.

I'm not trying to negate the hard work that these professionals have done but any sane parent knows, or should know by now that too much TV for kids is not a good idea. Why does it take a Study to reassure them of this fact? My son's TV schedule is now back to an hour on a Friday, after school, and maybe 1 hour of cartoons and 1 hours of video game during the weekend. But it depends on how he did at school during the week. His Summer Fun Schedule stays as that, summer vacation schedule.
