I've watched many of those personal finance "rescue" shows. Often, the financial expert host is so harsh and scolding, I'm left wondering what real impact they've had on the people's financial lives.
Then I began regularly watching Gail Vaz-Oxlade and her Canadian show Til Debt Do Us Part. The Slice show is definitely full of cautionary tales of family finance gone wrong. Yet Vaz-Oxlade is knowledgeable, insightful and firm but understanding and compassionate about finances and relationships.
By the time many couples meet her, they are in financial trouble and feeling shame and embarrassment about their situation. The host guides them through the financial clean-up and empowers them with solid tools of smart financial management. After the process, the majority of the couples seem inspired.

I watch Til Debt Do Us Part all the time, I cant believe people let themselves get that far. I can also see where some of them will not follow thru. Its a shame, I would love to see follow ups on some of them.
