Throw Out the Scale!

I keep my bathroom scale under the sink in my bathroom. Having grown up in a weight obsessed household, I don't want my girls to feel the pull of the scale like I did...or rather, still do.

Well, last week I pulled out the digital scale for a quick peek at the numbers and found I had lost 2lbs., knowing that I hadn't suffered to get to that point I was quite impressed with myself.

The next day I weighed my self again. Again, I had lost another 2 lbs. I was glad, I mean what woman wouldn't be?

The third day, I weighed myself and I had lost a further 4 lbs. Now I was beginning to become a bit alarmed. My clothes didn't feel like I was down 8 lbs. in three days. And to top it off I had just enjoyed a huge pasta dinner complete with dessert the night before. (Celebrating my previous (alleged) 4 lb. weight loss!)

Feeling a bit weirded out by my huge (alleged) weight loss in 3 days, I yelled for my husband to come and weight himself. He got on the scale and apparently he weighed the exact same as me. Now, that seemed a bit fishy.

Wanting to confirm if the scale knew any other numbers, I called my 10 year old to test the scale. She got on the scale and she also registered in at the same weight as my husband and I.(Which is scientifically impossible since she's the fittest, healthiest kid you've ever seen. And I'm 5 inches taller...)

Just for fun we got my 7 year old the scale. Yep, she weighed the same as the rest of us.

Ends up the digital scale was toast. Even after changing the batteries, it still wanted to tell us all that we weighed the same as each other.

I threw out the scale.

I'm not replacing it...I'm going to stick with a tape measure, no chance of it malfunctioning...

Figuring it out as I go,
