Did you have a penpal when you were a kid? Do you remember how exciting it was when you checked the mailbox and there was a fat, wordy letter with your name on the front?
It's a great feeling when the mail reveals a personal letter, as opposed to a form letter or, goodness, another bill!
Why not be the person to instigate this wonderful feeling? Just knowing that you're going to brighten someone's day will make writing a letter worthwhile.
You could invest in some nice stationary, return address labels, stamps and start writing. Or you could just use the paper you have around your house. In the end the message you send will be much more important than the letter's packaging.
What are you going to write about?
Well, you could write about a shared memory, or an upcoming event...
You could thank the person you're writing to for something they've done for you lately ...
If you really want the recipient to feel special, enclose pictures, news clippings, or other easily transported items that are relevant to your special person.
Go on, pick up a pen. Make someone's day.
Figuring it out as I go,
- Lesli
