The House is a Mess...Yea! It's the weekend!

I always know it's the end of the week just by taking a look around my house. Little piles of clutter have grown to big piles of clutter and there's 6+ pairs of shoes arranged haphazardly around the front closet. The kitchen sink has a film on it and the kids' bathroom sink has toothpaste glued to it...It's all scientific, of course - the measure of clutter is directly related to the day of the week. Monday is tidy, Friday is not, it all gets reset at some time over the weekend.

So, when the weekend comes, does your family help out around the house? Or do you have to nag them, I mean, remind them to help out? Do your kids have chores that they fulfill? Do you have a tried and true system of getting everyone to help out?

One mom I know has her 10 year old son do his own laundry on the weekend. Another family cleans house every Saturday morning for a few hours and then it's done for the week.

I just kind of clean my house in between doing other things. I remind my girls to sort their laundry and to take an honest look at their rooms. Sometimes my daughters go on a cleaning spree, which I wish would happen on a regular basis, but so far, it's fleeting at most.

I remember taking a survey once that asked what type of outside help would you appreciate the most? a) a Chef b) a House Cleaner c) a Nanny d) a Gardener - I would choose a House Cleaner in a minute...Oh, who am I kidding? Likely, if I arranged for someone to come in to clean my house, I'd probably clean it before they came so that it was presentable for them to clean...

Figuring it out as I go,

- Lesli

The only chore I do during the weekend is laundry. Cooking a given. Anyway, i schedule chores during the week, like sweeping/vacuuming on mondays, bathroom on tuesday..like that. during the weekend, besides picking up toys here and there i don't sweat much about chores. Weekends are for family time so we don't care if the house is a mess.

Going back on the laundry, which I hate, my hubby helps me out or sometimes he does it all himself. Like last weekend, after Church. It was probably the first time our laundry was washed. dried, folded and put away in the same day. LOL.
