Did you know that heart disease and stroke kill one in three Canadian women? Surprisingly though, statistics show only one in eight Canadian women know it's their most serious health concern.
That's why I'm spreading the word to family and friends about The Heart Truth. It's a national public health campaign which is aiming to bridge the knowledge gap between Canadian women and their health care practitioners.
"The single most important thing you can do to safeguard your heart health is to educate yourself about your unique risk factors, " says the campaign.
The Heart Truth encourages women to know their risk and become aware of their health profile. Learning the warning signs of heart disease and stroke, it says, "will allow you to take preventive action and control your risk factors."
