Taking It On the Road: Three Girls, No Schedules...

Aaaaah, yes, Dexie, my fellow blogger, summer is the time to let loose a bit, especially since there's no school or afterschool activities to rush to. I think we all need a break from that scene...

The first thing my two girls and I are going to do this summer is to take a bit of a roadtrip. Once we've hit our destination we're going to hang out in a 843 square foot space in the mountains for a week. There's a small town right close by, but there's no big grocery store and no mall...(No lines, no self-checkouts...)

There's 3 channels on the television that sometimes needs the 'rabbit ears' adjusted to get a little less 'snow' in on the screen. (Yes, I said 'rabbit ears'. Those are satellite systems from the past...)

There's no internet connection for my laptop. (Whaa-at???) There is, however, a coffee shop that has wireless. Maybe if I bribe the girls with hot chocolate, they'll indulge me a few minutes on the 'net...

There is however a small radio at the cabin, but I think I'll be able to hook my XM satellite radio up to the television. (Whew! We'll still be in touch with the outside world!)

Geez, as I write this I realize that my idea of 'getting away from it all is a bit skewed. Imagine really getting away from it all! No laptop, no television, no corner store...maybe just a wind-up radio and a flint to start a small fire with...having to haul water up from the creek for cooking and washing clothes...no shower - just swimming in the creek...Imagine...

Okay, enough of that, did I mention I'm taking my espresso maker and hair dryer?

Figuring it out as I go,

- Lesli
