Swimming and Asthma

cohdra100_1810.jpgIt isn't the actual swimming that new studies are pointing the finger at but at a byproduct of the chlorine that is used to keep the water clean and safe - trichloramine. There are new studies available that link the early exposure to this gas with the development of childhood asthma.

Children with risk factors that are already present (family history) are at greater risk. Young babies who take swimming lessons with their parents in an indoor pool that isn't properly ventilated have been shown to develop breathing difficulties as they grow older.
