Sisters & Friends

amanda17.jpgThis is a picture of me circa - well awhile ago - that's my little sister with me. This was during the good times, we are 18 months apart so playing together during our younger days was pretty much a given.
Enter the pre-teen and teenage years - let's just say remembering back on the fights we used to have I am grateful I don't have any daughters! But we both survived - me the door being slammed on my head and her the unfortunate counter-meets-head incident.
Now, we are great friends. I talk to her more than I do my other girlfriends that live close by (she lives in Ontario and I am in British Columbia).
I think too often we take our family for granted - they are there to help out when needed, watch the kids, and the obligatory visit over the holidays. But you should stop and get to know your family for who they are and who they have become. Don't assume you know a person just because you grew up together. Take a break from talking about what Aunt Susie said to mom, who told grandma, conversations - reconnect. I am glad I did.

Oh, and don't you just love my pattern combination? I was ahead of the fashion game even at the tender age of five.
