Banking Money In A Weak Economy
With the economy hurting and prices on the rise, I think we're all becoming a bit more budget conscious this year.
Well, unless we're one of the lucky few who are pocketing huge bonuses and taking junkets to Monte Carlo. (Yes, Wall Street, I'm looking in your direction.)
So I decided to come up with five easy ways to save a grand this year. Just take your pick....here are five ways to create a little "nest egg" this year:
1. Save $3.75 each time you replace Starbucks with home-brewed. That’s $1368.75 in a year – grande! (And at the rate that Starbucks is closing stores, this should be easy.)
2. Have $39 automatically deposited from your biweekly paycheck to savings. You won’t miss $39, but $1014 a year is no chump change.
3. Take your vacation at home. Visit tourist sites usually avoided while saving a cool grand on food, lodging and transportation.
4. Buy a used car. You’ll save on monthly payments and insurance.
5. Then park it. Cut your gas intake by a gallon a day, and fill your account with $1095 a year. Just tell your neighbors you're going green.
