Does 2000 km (1200 miles) sound like a long way to drive?
It seemed like it to me.
But when my daughters and I were invited up to my husband's parents summer house last week, I thought 'why not'? Of course before we left I was a bit apprehensive about making such a long drive with just me and the girls. (No man to protect us...) (Did I just say that???) ;)
Although we passed through several towns the driving was fairly remote and the destination even more remote. (Unlike our earlier mountain trip that had a local cafe with internet and XM radio reception...!) There was no chance of getting a good internet connection where grandma and grandpa lived and if I did it would be dial-up - ewww!
So, on our journey we filled up with gas, had some good girltalk, made pit stops and along the way I think that I empowered not only myself, but my girls.
I know it doesn't sound like much, and I'm sure the girls didn't think much of it. But, by widening my circle of experiences, I hope that in turn, I am widening my girls' view of what they are capable of.
Sometimes the best teaching moments are those that aren't that obvious. Y'know?
Figuring it out as I go,
