Should Santa Take Last Minute Orders?

So, last month my girls, ages 7 & 10, wrote letters to Santa. They made niceties with the old guy - How is Mrs. Claus? What would Rudolph like to eat Christmas Eve? Carrots? Celery?

Things were good. Santa would have plenty of notice on what the girls' Christmas wishes were...and as far as I knew Santa was all prepared and finished his Christmas gift preparations.

That was until we went to visit the old guy at the mall last week...

We decided to get a family pic and I was sitting beside Santa, waiting for the picture to be taken when I heard him ask my older daughter what she'd like for Christmas.

When she answered his question, she asked for something completely different than what she asked for in her letter to him.

Santa was like, "Wow, that sounds great. I think I might be able to find something like that in my toy shop."

And I'm thinking, No way old guy the toy shop is closed. C-L-O-S-E-D. Closed....

Should Santa take a rush order? Or is there an unwritten cut-off date somewhere here?

Santa doesn't want to be a grinch, I'm sure, but I'm sure Santa doesn't want to overindulge children either. What do you think Santa should do?

Figuring it out as I go,

- Lesli
