Can you imagine living to the rather old age of 100? I sometimes wonder if my body is up for the journey.
Here I am in my 30s and already I sometimes wake up with a sore back, or lack the energy I need to prepare my backyard for winter!
Here are some ways to make it to a century, some more obvious than others...
1. Eat home cooked meals (Check out www.forks.ca)
2. Exercise, no, really, actually take a 30 minute walk once a day, minimum.
3. Socialize. Studies show that those who have strong connections with others live longer. And don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Your social circle should be diverse. (In case, your whole curling team passes away by the time they're 75!)
4. Challenge your brain - Be a lifelong learner. Do puzzles, read, learn a new language.
5. Stay sexually active - Now, if you're too tired, just remember, it might add years to your life...
6. Be happy, enjoy getting older. Embrace those gray hairs and laugh lines...and stretchmarks and varicose veins...and achy bones and saggy upper arms...
Figuring it out as I go,
- Lesli
