Reality Baby Show: Everyone's Fascinated

A couple of weeks ago, I had a BBQ. Among my guests were my sis-in-law, her partner and my cute little niece. My niece is 8 months old.

There was a bit of a gap between babies in our immediate family. The next youngest child in the family is my youngest daughter, who is 7 years old.

So, needless to say, the whole family (not just grandma & grandpa) are a bit baby-deprived. Everyone lines up to hold my little niece and there's never a lack of babysitters.

During the BBQ, we could barely have a flowing conversation because every time my little niece smiled or babbled, we all had to stop and comment, and stare. It was nothing less than watching a baby reality show taking place in my very own home.

And everyone was watching. The cousins were glued to the baby and the adults eyes kept darting back to the baby.

What is our fascination with babies? And why are they just so darn cute?
