Product Review : Inflatable Duck Tub

duck_tub.jpgThis inflatable duck tub from Munchkin was given to me for my daughter when I had my baby shower. She loves it as the evidence shows. The appeal of this tub is that it has a Hot or Cold disc indicator. When the disc turns blue it means it's safe for the baby. The water temperature is just right. When the disc turns white, it's too hot. Not safe for the baby. Well, as soon as my baby was able to sit up by herself, 6 months old to be specific, my husband blew it up and we were off to the bathroom. I drew the water. tested the temperature using my arm. The water was warm. The usual temperature whenever she had a sponge bath. Then I looked at the disc indicator. It was white. I was confused then. I thought the water was just perfect. So stupid me, kept turning the knob to make the water colder. Well, the water was so cold not even I could handle it for shower. Still, the disc indicator was white. I decided then that the tub is wrong. So I dumped the water and started all over again. My daughter took her first bath on the inflatable duck with the disc indicator saying it was too hot.

Lesson of that day? Use your common sense. Don't always trust the products instructions. Some are accurate some are not. Now in their defense, there's a note in the tub itself saying:

Do not rely solely on the accuracy of safety disc, as color change function may cease to work overtime. Test safety disc regularly and replace tub at first sign of wear or damage.

My problem with that Warning is that it was the first time my daughter used it. The box wasn't opened until that day. Like I said, use your common sense when using this cool product. My daughter loves it. Especially when the beaks squeeks :)
