Scrapbooking has become such a household name among Moms(non-Moms too) all over the world. I didn't really venture into it until I had my second baby. I just couldn't afford it before. Scrapbooking could get really expensive. The materials that are very abundant and accessible to anyone who wants to start are not price-friendly to a one-income family, well mine anyway. But I've found ways to help me out which I will share with you in a moment. In a very much digitalized world these days, it's so easy to just set aside the many pictures we take of our children, families and friends in a memory stick or transfer them into a CD and forget all about them. If we get them developed, they'd probably be stored in a shoe box for years. Scrapbooking has made it possible to preserve all our wonderful moments in life in a very fun and relaxing way. I've got the affordable part covered :) .
I go to 3 different places to get my digital pictures developed. Snapfish, Photoworks and Wal-Mart. I've been using Photoworks more though because it's actually cheaper than Wal-Mart. Not to mention they resize the pictures and make it fit without cropping any detail of the picture like Wal-Mart does. I also love the glossy quality of the prints compare to the glossy prints from Wal-Mart.

The 3 places aforementioned are done online. I usually upload my pictures and order everything else at their site. Wal-Mart and Snapfish has an option for 1-hour pick up at their stores. Snapfish uses Wal-Greens. With Photoworks, the pictures are sent in the mail.

When it comes finally putting everything together, I was lucky to get my frist kit from a friend. I was able to start right way with the Baby Book for my daughter. As this hobby of mine progressed, I found scrapbook materials at $ stores, where everything is prized for $1. I have also found .97 cents stickers from Wal-Mart. If you check EBAY, they have a lot of affordable ones as well. If you have friends who dabbles in scrapbooking, don't be shy to ask them for their leftover scraps. I hope they're as generous as my friends are :). I've started a family album as well. I bought the album from Wal-Mart for only $8. So if you are starting out, Wal-Mart is a good place to get you starter-kit materials.
One habit I've discovered that helps me out a lot is cutting out stuff from magazines. Letterings, phrases, pictures, quotes. Magazines, and old cards are great resources for scrapbooking. So I suggest you peruse the pages of you magazines before throwing them out. Old cards that you recieved for Christmas, birthdays and just everyday ones are an amazing option as well. I usually do my "cutting time" at nights while I watch my favorite TV shows. I do my pages on the weekends, at nights.
You can see the bigger versions of the pages posted above and more pages at my flickr.
