Pet Friendly on Vacation

Family summer vacations away can often mean leaving Fido home with friends or family or the local kennel.

Increasingly, though Canadian vacation rentals are becoming pet friendly.

When we adopted our puppy, we took her everywhere with us including on our summer road trip last year. That's because I discovered Pet Friendly, a Canadian online directory of Pet Friendly vacation rentals.

Pet Friendly is an excellent Internet travel resource for pet owners. The cross-Canada list includes hotels, motels, resorts, vacation rentals, cottages, cabins, bed & breakfasts and other pet friendly lodging.

One of our favourite pet friendly hotels is the Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire in Calgary. The hotel staff there treated our dog like family almost. While we checked in, they set up a luxury dog bed and bowls in our room. They graciously offered to dog-sit anytime during our stay. So we took a swim and she charmed them at the Reception Desk.
