Packing 'Em Up For A Road Trip

My family and I just got back from our road trip travel vacation. We decided to drive and take in the vast beautiful view of nature that you get from the open road. I'm not sure if it was a good idea though what with all the traffic and sitting in a car 13 hours to and from. Whewww. 2 kids in the back seat sure made it even more interesting. I'm sure most of you have traveled for long hours and are now experts in what to pack to keep the kids from getting bored. These days cars can have portable DVD players so the children could watch their favorite movie. Packing comic books, lego magazines for reading materials are good items too. Of course, we can't forget those darn video games. My son brought his game boy and at least 5 games to entertain him after getting bored perusing his lego magazine pages. It wouldn't hurt to take a pillow with you so your kids can lay comfortably for a little nap.

Having an 11 month old baby was quite fun as well. I made sure I packed enough bottles of water for her formula. I also took a rabbit pull-down mobile that she loves with us so there's a little bit of familiarity while she's buckled down in her car seat.

CD's for everyone to listen to is a good idea. Thankfully, my children loves listening to music so it didn't matter what we were listening to. As long as the sound is blasting. Well not too loud of course. Snacks, don't forget them. Animal crackers, chips, and drinks. Don't forget to get out of the car when stopping for gas, bathroom breaks or fast food stops for lunch and dinner. You need to stretch your legs. Don't forget to take the baby out of her seat as well. Sitting in that seat could get frustrating for them too.

Now all you've got left is a lot of patience to deal with traffic and moronic drivers. Other than that, enjoy your trip and drive safely. We did :)
