"Noisy" Kids, Parents Went To Court

Laughter, shrieks of joy, these are the signs of merriment. Happy Kids swimming in their own pool, in their own backyard. That's what 2 kids(11, 5) from Long Island, NY were feeling anyway. Some neighbors in their village didn't share the same feelings though. They filed charges in violation of noise ordinace, according to them. The Judge on the hand disagreed. He dismissed the case. The Poczatek Attorney said, the noise ordinace is reserved for ""the shouting and crying of peddlers, hawkers and vendors, which disturbs the peace and quiet of the neighborhood."

I have kids. I have nephews. Children can be very loud. But they're happy. I'd rather hear them happy than hear them fight with each other. But then again, kids need to learn how to control themselves. They also need to respect other people's peace and quiet. So I can definitely see both sides.

I suggest the Poczatek family invite their disgruntled neighbors to join them in their pool time once in a while. Instead of suing each other why not get together one afternoon and have a BBQ by the pool. Swim, eat, laugh, and enjoy Summer. Then afterwards, pipe down the noise and settle in for the night.

Isn't that a neighborly thing to do?
