No TV??!

DSC00145_p.jpgCan you imagine not having cable to watch whenever you wanted? I can. In our society the television has become so ingrained in our day-to-day lives that we have even nicknamed it - TV. Me and the TV weren't getting along so good anymore and I did something about it.

I got fed up with the TV viewing habits in my family and I did something most would consider unthinkable - I cancelled our cable supscription! You can read about it here.I did this about four months ago and it is getting easier as time goes on. I can honestly say I don't know when I would have time to watch the television if we decided to get it back.

It is estimated that by the time children reach the age of 18 they will have logged more hours watching TV than hours spent in a classroom learning. Some will think what I did was extreme and I have control over what my kids watch - and I do but the focus is no longer on the telvision it is on the family. Now my husband wants to know what we should be pointing our couch at.

Let me know what you think. Would you ever consider cancelling your cable or drastically reduce your family's TV viewing time?

Well, I can completely relate. When my ex-husband and I separated, I cut back to the basic 13 channels to save on my cable/Internet bill. I had no problem at all, since I worked two jobs and was semi-active in various online groups.

I would do it again now if there wasn't another in the home that won't hear of it, lol. Still, it's rarely watched.
