Momzillas is a book about moms who are, "so consumed with over-scheduling their tots and gaining admission into the right pre-pre-school that they tackle it with the same ferocity they would a Barney's sample sale."
Okay hands up - who has compared themselves to another mom and felt bad because you aren't doing as much with your little Jimmy as she was with her little James? Well put those hands down, pick up a copy of Momzilla and have a good laugh.
At one point my son was enrolled in pre-school, swimming lessons, soccer, and a science camp at the same time. Um, when was play time?! It was too much for me, too much for him and yes, too much for my bank account. Right now we are between all activities, my son is not in ANY activities.
And guess what, I am not a bad mother because of it. I even took him out of pre-school, he wasn't enjoying it and so I said okay. His official school career starts in a few short months with kindergarten and why go into it with bad memories of pre-school. I have a suspicion that he was burnt out from too many activities. We're cooling our jets.
Learn from my mistake; don't feel like you have to enroll your kids in every activity going to be a good mom. All your kids need is you, time to play and have fun. Let them be kids while they can.
