Modern high chair

Call it the modern high chair. Several design-savvy parents have raved to me about the HiLo chair by Quebec design firm AGE Design (AGE).

The idea behind it is "intelligent design meets contemporary styling". This dual height chair meets parent's aesthetics for modern interiors and keeps toddler well-seated whether they're 6 months or 6 years old.

What makes it brilliant is with one easy maneuver, the seatbelt-clad chair conveniently swivels from high chair to under-table chair.

It's the first of several new children's products to be introduced by the AGE husband-and-wife design team.

"The HiLo chair is intended to win people over gently, with intelligent and simple solutions rather than attention-grabbing bravura and complicated features," says Genevieve Grenier, designer partner.

"As industrial designers, my husband Patrice and I simply want to achieve a better chair. By better, we don't just mean more attractive or more functional, but all-around better at being part of the human environment."

The stylish HiLo Chair is available at retailers across Canada and the US. It retails for $349 and comes in colours Asparagus, Carrot, Portobello and Raspberry.
