This morning, I woke up to news Maple Leaf Foods is recalling all products made at its Toronto plant due to the recent listeria outbreak.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Public Health Agency of Canada have concluded that the strain of listeria bacteria linked to the illness and death of several consumers matches the listeria strain identified in some Maple Leaf Food products.
Check the latest from Maple Leaf Foods here.
Strange, my family has been sick in the last week with symptoms associated with milder forms of listeriosis (listeria infection) - cramps, constipation, headache, mild flu-like illness, nausea. We frequently consume Maple Leaf chicken so we don't know if it was the cause.
This morning, we didn't take any chances. We cleaned out our freezer and took the Maple Leaf products back to our grocery store Safeway for refunds.
If you have any Maple Leaf Food products, seriously consider taking them back to the store where you bought them.
