Living the Simple Life in Our Vintage Trailer

Well, I've been busy packing. We're on the road again. For 3 weeks. This time we're going camping to British Columbia, into the Cariboo area. We random camp on a gold claim, and hope we don't have any run-ins with gold fevered prospectors!

Unlike most of our friends (Read all) who have brand new camp trailers, our camp trailer is in a class by itself, vintage class, actually.

It's 18 feet of pure 70s luxury complete with the original flooring and curtains (um, yellow and orange...). It's in stunning shape, inside and out, considering it's age and the miles it's seen.

It fits our family of four (and our big Golden Retriever) just fine. Sure it'd be unbelievable to have a full bathroom, sitting room and a few pop-outs, but we're talking camping here. Getting back to basics.

If someone needs some personal space they're going to have to find it in the wilderness, 'cause it ain't available in our trailer. On the other hand, it's great together time. (Like, really together.)

There's no running water (someone took off the water tank before we got the trailer.), there's no electricity where we camp (We do have 12 volt lights running off of a battery.) and there's no flushing toilet. (Thank goodness for the toilet with a tank.) (Well, except when it's time to dump the tank!)

It's always a challenge to get away from the city, we're so tied into the computer, Blackberries and television. But, once we're at our destination, in the bush, it's nice not to have the electronic attachments...

...Life becomes so much simpler in our vintage trailer...

Figuring it out as I go,

- Lesli
