Laughing well

laughteryoga.jpg

Imagine there are some 6,000 laughter yoga clubs in 60 countries including Canada.

Laughter yoga was a movement started in India in 1995 by Dr. Madan Kataria. It involves breathing and movement exercises that teach the body to laugh without humour.

Why not? Apparently, an average child laughs 300 to 400 times per day but adults only 12 times! Studies show laughter can improve our physical and mental health, reducing stress and increasing a sense of well being.

The Laughter Yoga movement started World Laughter Day, the first Sunday of every May.

For more information on a laughter yoga club near you, see the Laughter Yoga Canada website.
