Keep Your White Shirts White and Bright

white_shirt.jpgEver wondered how to keep your white shirt retain it's whiteness and make it even brighter? I usually start with separating the whites from the colored ones before doing laundry. If for some miracle I remember to put bleach once I wash the white loads, well, that's an accomplishment in itself. I myself is still trying to figure out how to make the laundry chore disappear altogether, hah! :) I was reading my first magazine from the All You subscription that my dear Mother-in-Law signed me up for and I came upon tips on how to keep your white shirts the whitest. So I'm sharing them all with you.

From Theresa Mullin, KY,
"I wash them with Cascade dish soap. It's the chef's secret to keeping their uniforms white."

From Kimberly Franz, NY
"I heat a cup of vinegar in the microwave. Then I pour the warm vinegar on the underarms of white shirts, to prevent perspiration stains, and launder as directed."

From Diane E. Alberts, Ohio
"After adding a half cup of lemon juice to the wash cycle of a normal load, I hang them on hangers outside and let the sun finish the job."

Hope those helps you out. I might try the Cascade dish soap tip sometime. The vinegar tip worries me.

Do you have your own tips in keeping white shirts white? Please do share :) .

I have a girlfriend that swears by Oxy-clean. Maybe I'll have to give it a try - she says it does really well on baby related stains. Even on some stains that have been washed and dried already.
