My daughter is turining 9 months old on the 18th of this month. The first word she said when she was 6 months old was "Da-DA". I knew it was going to be so. Our son's first word was the same. The most frustrating thing was that I was the one with my son all the time. My husband was actually gone for 2 weeks when our son uttered his first word. Well, I guess they're not brother and sister for nothing coz it happened all over again.
From the books I've read, technically, babies don't really know what their first word means. It's just jibberish to them. They' are more excited at the sounds the word elicits when they say it. So I should stop whining, heh. Still though, I wish she would say it before she turns 9 months or she starts walking. It would be nice since I'm with her all the time. I'm the one who convinces her father to buy her a new pair of shoes or to get both dresses coz I'm having a hard time deciding which dress is cuter. I think she can sense my frustrations that's why she's taking longer than she really wants to. She would put her lips together and acts like she's about to say it but she would just look at me with a smile and twinkle in her eyes that says "GOTCHA".
What's your baby's first word?
