It's Cold Out - Time to Hit the Beach!

When temperatures start hitting -18 (-25 with the windchill) I start dreaming of heading south, but that's all I'll be doing. There are no plans in my future that include an ocean, sand and palm trees...

But, that doesn't mean I can't dream...

I think I would lean towards renting a villa, preferably with a deck overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Of course, if I wanted to dip my toes in the water, I could access the ocean via the steps off my deck.

For our honeymoon, my husband and I took of to the Turks and Caicos for 10 days.

We stayed in a villa that had us just steps from the beach. If we weren't feeling beachy we would walk half the distance and lounge at the pool.

It didn't matter whether we were at the beach or the pool because either place had bar staff that wandered by occasionally to take our drink orders. (Margaritas taste the best on a Caribbean beach, with the sun beating down on you, and nothing but the endless ocean in front of you.)

It's been years since I've travelled someplace hot during the winter. Maybe next year!
