Influencer: The Power to Change Anything

influencer.jpeg

Lately, I've been watching way too much CNN. In the last two years, the American election has turned me into an avid viewer of Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, Lou Dobbs, Larry King and the whole CNN crew.

Tonight, I admit the bad economy news from CNN and other sources was dizzying. So I recalled other news coverage of the day. Viewers were told to pay with cash, live within their means, hunker down, save, save, save, pay down credit cards...

The current global economy news reminds us that life is change, change is life. The ability to change and adapt to life is an important skill, whether it's in your finances to relationships.

That reminded me of a book I recently read - Influencer: The Power to Change Anything by Kerry Patterson, Josephy Grenny, David Maxfield, Ron McMillan and Al Switzler. They're also the authors of Crucial Conversations and Crucial Confrontations.

The authors "show readers how to create rapid, dramatic, and long-lasting change at the office, at home, and globally by implementing proven influence strategies." They give readers tools to solve ongoing problems and make positive changes in their personal and professional lives.

Their strategies are rooted in the following principles:
1. "Identify a handful of vital behaviours that lead to rapid and profound change."
2. "Use personal and vicarious experience to change minds."
3. "Marshall six sources of influence to make change inevitable."
