If I knew I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself. That was spoken by baseball great Mickey Mantle when he was in his early 80s.
Did you ever think you'd be the same shape, generally, forever? And then you woke up one morning with some extra skin that wasn't there before? ME TOO!!! We're twins! (ha!)
That was the morning that I decided I'd better limit my Doritos consumption. That was the morning that I decided I'd better start eating more fish and that was the morning that I knew things would only get worse if I didn't make a conscious decision to be somewhat healthy.
It's like a revelation. All of a sudden you're in your 30s and you realize that the only way you're going to stay the way you are physically is by working at it. Sure, you can still eat pumpkin pie, but you better plan on going for a walk afterwards. Y'know?
My point is, is that unless you're 99 (not to disclude any centenarians) you can change your eating and exercise habits, and unless you're 80ish, you should consider salmon, kale & red wine because you're going to do a lot better in the long run if your "packaging" is in the best condition it can be. (...um, and dark chocolate...)
And if you make it to 80, go wild. Do the Fast Food Nation thing if you want, but I bet by then you'll love how the good life makes you feel and you won't want to taint your temple with fast food and yellow no.5...
Figuring it out as I go,

As Mickey died at the age of 64 (1931-1995), the quote was made by him in the early 1980s and NOT when Mickey was in his 80s...he never got there.
