Harry Potter: Visiting Hogwarts at Chapters

Tonight at 12:01 a.m., the 7th book in J.K. Rowling's Harry Pottter series hits the shelves. Well, if the books make it to the shelves.

I started reading Harry Potter to my (almost) 7 year old daughter this year. We're only on the second book, but both of us are enthralled. Rowling's writing is terrific - easy to follow and read, yet suspenseful and intriguing.

I was pleasantly surprised to find the character, Harry, and his friends, Hermione and Ron, so likeable. And funny. Actually the books are nothing like I imagined them to be. I thought they would be dark and scary, and they aren't.

Our local Chapters is hosting a Harry Potter Night in the store. The store is going to be set up like the school that Harry goes to - Hogwarts school. From 10 p.m. until midnight there's going to be games, mazes, spells, and Harry Potter fun. At 12:01 a.m. J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be revealed and introduced to the public.

I'm taking my daughter to this Harry Potter event and I think we'll have loads of fun. I couldn't be happier that the books my daughter loves are going to come alive tonight at Chapters. It's going to be an event to remember...

Figuring it out as I go,

- Lesli
