Getting In Shape: Jennifer Lopez as Inspiration?

Jennifer Lopez is training for a triathlon. I'm sore just trying to run around the block. Okay, run halfway around the block.

Now, I'm pretty realistic when thinking about the diets and fitness regimes of the rich and famous. I am not rich. Nor am I famous. I'm not in the position to hire professional trainers and nutritionists. Nor do I have the time to dedicate the greater part of each day to the improvement of my physical self. Unlike Ms. Lopez, I must go to work in the morning.

I'm not saying it's easy for her. She has the baby weight from twins to get rid of. I don't. And she has to spend time with said twins. I don't. She has a spotlight on her, with critics standing by, waiting for her to fail. I don't. And she has a super-famous derrière. I don't.

I don't have a family to tend to. I don't have photographers chasing me. I don't have weight to lose. I also don't have that pressure to meet a certain ideal or expectation. Still, it's important to acknowledge that even without that outside pressure, my personal health still needs addressing. Even bloggers need to be physically fit.

So while I don't usually consider myself a Jennifer Lopez emulator (at all), it's worth challenging myself to set health and fitness goals, and then determining to prioritize them in my day-to-day life. I'm not "Jenny from the block", but I have my own little block that my running shoes should spend more quality time with.
