At least once a year I buy my son new crayons - the old ones break and can't too small and he won't use them anymore. I never throw out the dregs because it is such a waste and I usually end up colouring with them myself.
While browsing the Family Fun website, I found a craft idea to turn crayon stumps into cool rock designs.
Swirly Rocks - What you will need:
Smooth, flat rocks
Aluminum foil
Oven mitt
Newspapers
Old crayons
As this craft involves hot rocks, adult supervision is essential. It doesn't specifiy an age range on the site, but I would guess it isn't for children under 5. Go here for the instructions.
When the rocks are done they can be used as paper weights, door stops, or just some decoration in your kid's room.

This looks like fun. I might try it with some kiddos...or do it by myself!
:)
Thanks!
