I'm dreaming of wandering India and savouring Indian food.
Naturally, my mind returns to a fave book Climbing the Mango Trees: A Memoir of a Childhood in India by Madhur Jaffrey. After all, she is considered the world authority on Indian food.
The acclaimed food writer shares her lively childhood that included climbing the mango trees in her grandparent's orchard in Delhi and picnicking in the Himalayan foothills. There were meatballs stuffed with raisin and mint to freshly baked spiced pooris.
For foodies, the best part is Jaffrey includes over 30 dishes from her Indian childhood.
