Be Acid Aware Canada!

acidaware.jpg

Lately, I've been noticing acid wear symptoms on our teeth so we've started using Sensodyne ProNamel toothpaste.

Then I discovered Be Acid Aware, a national public awareness program supported by the Canadian Dental Association. The program wants Canadians to learn about the dental condition, explain risk factors and recommend steps to protect your teeth.

The website recommends these acid wear prevention and protection tips:

Drinking Directions: "Don't swish acidic drinks around in your mouth - swallow them quickly. Use a straw to direct liquids away from your teeth."

Toothbrush Timing: "Don't brush your teeth right after eating when the enamel is at its softest. Wait for at least an hour before brushing. You can also brush before eating and rinse with water after eating."

Paste Protection: "Brush twice a day, every day with a toothpaste like ProNamel which is specifically designed to help protect your teeth from the effects of acid wear."

Visit your Dentist: "Have regular dental check-ups and follow your dentist's advice."
