The appeal of this very successful installment is that not only do the kids get a kick out of Shrek and Donkey bantering around and all their antics, but the grown ups who initially felt dragged into the movie theater to sit with a bunch of kids are actually getting the jokes as well. I mean let's face it, most of the sardonic parts and jokes from the first 2 movies were geared for us adults. The fact that Dreamworks was making fun of the Disney fairytales went unnoticed from the kids's perspectives but was definitely understood by grown ups. This is why it is such a big hit and muchly awaited by kids and grown ups alike. My family will definitely be part of the phenomenon again. My husband and I agree that it's a good thing we only have to hear Cameron Diaz's voice and not see her face at all. Animation rules. :)
The movie is rated PG. Reviews can be found at RottenTomatoes.com.
