I received a hand written letter from a long-time friend - one that I regularly correspond with via e-mail - and it carried with it a message of thoughtfulness and caring. She thought about me and cared enough to sit down and write to me about her thoughts, updates, and anything else that might be of interest.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for technology and electronic forms of communication - without them there would be a lot of people who would not hear from me. But taking the time to write someone a letter and mail it can really make a friend's day.
Your mission this weekend is to write a letter to a friend, maybe to someone you haven't spoken to in ages, your mom, or even you best girlfriend who lives 10 minutes away. I guarantee they will be glad you did.
There is something in it for you too. According to WholeFamily.com the additional benefits of letter writing include, "...strengthen[ing] your immune response, reduced symptoms of depression and a reduced need to visit a doctor."
Plain paper will do, but if you want to get fancy and personalized check out Design-Her Gals. You can create your own stationary, note cards, invitations, business cards, and more.
