A Guide to Sunscreen

sunscreen.jpg

We all know that we should be wearing sunscreen every day. But it's even more important during our Canadian summers. Because instead of being holed up inside, we're choosing to expose ourselves to those glorious yet harmful rays.

Picking a sunscreen is the tricky part. Canadian Living has created a super-simple glossary for those of us who can't quite figure out what we're reading on the countless bottles at our neighborhood drug stores.

"Waterproof" doesn't mean that we don't need to ever reapply. And even though it says "sunblock," no product can actually completely block the sun's rays. Essentially, no lotion should replace common sense. So dig those hats out of the closet, hang out in the shade, and enjoy sunshine responsibly.

Of the things on their list, one of the most overlooked is probably the expiry date. Be sure to carefully check last summer's bottles before slathering on your sunscreen. Assuming, of course, that you want the stuff to work. Tans are soooo last decade.
