After a complicated and grueling 24-hour operation, Lakshmi, the girl from India who was born with 4 arms and 4 legs is sound and stable. Lakshmi was born with a "parasitic twin". The latter never fully developed while still in the womb. As the surviving twin, Lakshmi absorbed the limbs, kidney and other undeveloped parts. The surgery went so well because they were not joined in the hearts of brain.
"Beyond our expectations, the reconstruction worked wonderfully well," Patil said. "We were able to bring the pelvic bones together successfully, which takes away the need for another procedure," he said. However, she will have to have further treatments and possible surgery for clubbed feet before she would be able to walk, he said.
The little girl's parents are happy and relived that their daughter will now have a normal body. Laksmi's Mom is pregnant with another baby and is happy to share that the fetus is healthy.
I love happy endings. Superwoman wishes Lakshmi and her whole family a happy and healthy life.
